Summer Reading
During the second and fourth Wednesdays in the months of June, July and August, at 6:45pm, there will be readings in Navarino Park at the corner of Stuart and Jackson streets. A community leader will read a storybook to the children. Each family will get a copy of the book to follow along with, and take home with them for their very own. The kids love this program and we have never found any of the books discarded in the park or in the neighborhood on Wednesday Walks. There is strong evidence that there is a correlation between illiteracy and crime. There
will be readings on the following dates in 2010;
May 26,
June 9 & 23,
July 14 & 28,
August 11 & 25.
In the picture below, Green Bay Police Department Officer Brian Schilt reads to children at the park.
